Initiating the Evaluation

Our Substance Abuse Evaluation & Drug Testing Procedure

Upon entering our facility, you’re not just fulfilling a court order but taking a crucial step toward self-awareness and recovery. Our in-house team will conduct an in-depth evaluation (approximately 2 hours), employing the ASAM criteria, to understand the magnitude and severity  of your situation. You’ll also be required to perform a UA (urine analysis) as a part of your initial evaluation.

What Should I Bring?

Photo Identification: A valid driver’s license or any official photo ID. 

Court Documents: While not obligatory, having relevant court papers aids in painting a comprehensive picture of your situation.

Medical Records: Providing up to date prescription information is important to urinalysis findings and the way we read the results.

Our Treatment Recommendations After the Evaluation

Understanding your relationship with substances is our first big step. We use ASAM criteria to guide our SUD assessments and help us determine recommendations that will be most helpful to you.

How We Tailor Your Recovery Roadmap

Your personalized assessment will determine your treatment recommendations. If you qualify for treatment, one of the following recommendations will be given:

  • Inpatient TreatmentThis immersive treatment option can last anywhere from 30 days to a full year. It provides participants with round-the-clock care in a controlled environment, ensuring they receive the intensive support and resources they need to address their substance use and recovery.
  • Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)IOP is a step down in intensity from inpatient treatment. It offers a high level of support while you are still living your day to day life. If you are following the program and making progress, IOP generally runs for 8-12 weeks, with participants attending four – three hour sessions per week. These sessions focus on coping strategies, relapse prevention, and education.
  • Outpatient Treatment (OP)OP is a step down in intensity from IOP. If you are following the program and making progress, OP typically spans 8-12 weeks, this treatment offers more flexibility with fewer hours of group per week. Participants attend groups twice a week for two hours per group. Groups cover a range of topics such as maintaining your sobriety, healthy relationships, changing thought patterns, and continued encouragement to make responsible choices.
  • ADIS Alcohol Drug Information SchoolThis 8-hour course dives deep into the risks and consequences of drug and alcohol use, especially after a DUI. Participants learn about the effects of substances and gain strategies for safer choices in the future. (Due to the low need and inability to have enough participants to qualify as a group, we do not currently offer ADIS classes, but we are able to provide an assessment and referral to help you with entrance to an ADIS program.)

We Work With the Judicial Systems To Note Your Progress

We provide timely status updates to the court or relevant parties, capturing your progress and cooperation. Upon successful completion of any recommended treatments, we relay a comprehensive report, validating your efforts and progress.

Absolutely, it’s essential to grasp the bigger picture. You get what you put into a program. When you engage in our program, we keep the court updated about your progress. Lack of participation or attendance can necessitate a negative report stating that you are not in compliance with recommendations of treatment.

Are the results of my substance abuse evaluation and drug test kept private?

Your privacy is paramount at Willapa Behavioral Health & Wellness. We require a release of information to be signed by you before we share any information. Results are relayed in compliance with Washington State laws and regulations. Essential details might be shared with relevant judicial bodies, but they won’t be divulged to unauthorized entities.

How might my evaluation and drug test results impact legal proceedings?

The outcomes can significantly guide your case:

  • Penalty Decisions: The depth of the issue can guide penalties, from fines to probation terms, or possible diversion opportunities.
  • Treatment Mandates: Based on assessment results, the court may mandate that you follow through with the assessment recommendations.

What if I do not agree with the evaluation or drug test findings?

You are encouraged to ask questions if you do not agree. There is an option for a second opinion, however, you will need to check with your insurance provider to ensure they will pay for it. Transparency with both your lawyer and our evaluation team ensures your concerns are addressed and your privacy is protected.

How often will I be subjected to drug testing in the outpatient treatment programs, and what are the ramifications of a positive result?

Testing frequency varies, but is done a minimum of monthly. Consequences of a positive test might encompass:

  • Court Consequences: There might be tighter court conditions or a boost in probation requirements.
  • Adjusting Your Plan: Based on any detected substance issues, our team may tweak your treatment approach.
