MAT stands for Medically Assisted Treatment. It can be very hard to stop the use of heroine and alcohol on your own, and medically assisted treatment (MAT) can help make the process of quitting easier. MAT uses prescription medication such as Suboxone, Subutex, Vivitrol, Antabuse, and Naltrexone, etc. to assist with the cravings and effects of substances so that you no longer get high or are able to feel the intoxicating effects. People on these medications no longer have to worry about getting sick from withdrawals or having cravings that interrupt their ability to function or force them to continue to use.
MAT Assessment
There is no assessment necessary for this service, however, to be in MAT services, the client most often will need to actively participate in a substance use program. To do this, they may need a substance use assessment. Studies show a higher rate of success when MAT and treatment are used together, and we at Willapa are interested in giving you the best chance at success.
