What Treatments Exist for an Addiction to Gambling?

If gambling is negatively impacting your life and the lives of those around you, you might be struggling with an addiction or gambling disorder. Professional counseling can help you discover the underlying causes or other mental health issues you might be living with. Your counselor can also connect you with other resources and solutions so that you can start a path to recovery.

Is Professional Counseling Right for Me?

In Washington, more than 100,000 adults live with problem gambling, yet, only 1 in 5 receives professional help. The American Psychiatric Association has identified common behaviors that people addicted to gambling share. Some of these behaviors include:

  • Lying about gambling
  • Losing relationships or jobs because of gambling
  • Depending on others for financial support after losing money while gambling
  • Needing to increase the amount of money gambled to feel excited
  • Becoming irritated and restless while trying to stop or control gambling

If you recognize that you or a family member may be dealing with compulsive gambling, working with a professional counselor can help you learn how to manage your addiction so that it doesn’t control you.

Individual Care Plans Designed by Certified Professionals

When you work with our team, you will receive an individual treatment plan that a professional counselor designs to meet your needs. Our counselors are certified to treat compulsive gambling, and we provide our services in a caring and safe environment.

To begin your recovery journey, you will meet with a counselor for a two-hour assessment. This initial meeting will help your counselor determine a treatment plan that is right for you. You can meet in person at our Long Beach clinic or schedule a video call. Once the assessment is complete, your counselor may recommend one or more of the following counseling treatments:
